Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Recap previous knowledge about Materials. Quick brainstorm: What do you already know about Materials? Introduction to today's objectives regarding Materials. Mental drill or quick quiz related to Materials.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
1. Demonstrate 'Magnetization': Stroke a needle with one pole of a magnet 30 times in the same direction. 2. Assemble the compass: Push the needle through a small cork and float it in a bowl of water. 3. Observation: Watch the needle settle in the North-South direction. Compare with a real compass.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Summarize what we learned today about Materials. Oral assessment: Answer key questions on Materials. Learners share one new thing they found out about Materials. Check for understanding and wrap up the week on Materials.
