Engage learners to play games and sing songs to begin the lesson.

Learners explain climate change and human adaptations. Climate change is a long term change in the average weather patterns such as temperature and rainfall. Learner list human activities in their community that contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases. E.g. deforestation, application of fertilizers, smoke from vehicles, bush burning, burning of refuse and charcoal, smoke from industries. Learners talk about how the atmosphere can be preserved for the provision of quality air, E.g. tree planting, do not cut trees, do not burn refuse etc. Put learners in groups to organize themselves to plant trees on the school compound and dispose of refuse properly. For this activity, learners use printed photographs of Ghanaian weather conditions, simple rain gauge and locally made clay globe to examine local weather evidence and relate it to the earth or climate.
