Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Play games and recite rhymes that learners are familiar with to begin the lesson. Ask learners questions to review their understanding in the previous lesson
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Learners use a hand mirror to observe familiar human features and discuss abilities such as communication, creativity, reasoning and responsible choice. Groups examine printed photographs of Ghanaian children with local animals. They compare observable features and behaviours respectfully and discuss human responsibility to care for other creatures. Learners complete a manila comparison chart with similarities, differences and one caring action. Groups present without ranking people or animals by worth.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Ask learners questions to review their understanding of the lessson. Give learners task to do whiles you go round to guide those who need help. Ask learners to summarize what they have learnt. Let learners say 5 words they remember from the lesson.
