Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Engage students in a warm-up activity by practicing greetings and maintaining eye contact with a partner. Discuss the importance of posture and eye contact in communication through a short role-play exercise. Use a fun tongue twister to practice pronunciation and build confidence in speaking aloud. Introduce a simple sentence structure activity where students describe a favorite toy or pet using their feelings.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Practice maintaining appropriate posture and eye contact through a storytelling circle where each student shares a short story. Engage in a game of charades where students use verbal and non-verbal cues to convey the meaning of simple actions. Reading: Guide students in a shared reading session where they use contextual clues to predict and confirm pronunciation of new words. Facilitate a paired reading activity where students take turns reading aloud and use phonics knowledge to correct each other's pronunciation. Writing: Encourage students to write a short paragraph describing their feelings about a recent event using simple sentences. Provide a worksheet where students complete sentences with descriptive words that match their emotions. Using Writing Conventions: Conduct a spelling bee focusing on words with irregular patterns where students use their phonics knowledge. Provide a list of irregular words for students to practice spelling and use in sentences. Extensive Reading: Set up a reading corner with a selection of age-appropriate books for students to explore and read independently. Organize a reading buddy session where students read a book together and discuss their favorite parts.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
