Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a story-sharing session where students are encouraged to recall and share a story they recently read or heard, focusing on how it ended. Discuss with the class the concept of resolution in stories, asking students to identify the resolution in their shared stories. Introduce adverbs of manner by giving examples and having students come up with sentences using those adverbs. Conduct a short listening exercise where students identify adverbs of manner from a read-aloud passage.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Engage students in a group discussion where they predict the resolution of a new story based on its beginning and middle parts. Have students work in pairs to role-play different scenarios, focusing on how adverbs of manner can change the meaning of their actions and expressions. Reading: Provide students with a short story and ask them to identify the resolution, highlighting sentences that include adverbs of manner. Organize a group reading session where students take turns reading aloud and identifying adverbs of manner used in the text. Writing: Ask students to rewrite the ending of a familiar story, incorporating at least five different adverbs of manner.
