Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a short storytelling session where the teacher narrates a familiar story and asks learners to listen carefully. Engage learners in a quick discussion about their favorite parts of the story. Introduce a set of personal pronouns using flashcards and ask learners to repeat after you. Present a picture and ask learners to describe it using simple adjectives.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Have learners retell the story they heard in the starter phase, focusing on main events and sequences. Organize a small group activity where learners create a new ending for the story and share it with the class. Reading: Introduce a short passage and ask learners to identify and underline pronouns in the text. Have learners read aloud a paragraph and replace nouns with appropriate pronouns to enhance understanding. Writing: Guide learners to write a short paragraph describing their favorite character from the story, using descriptive adjectives. Ask learners to write a short story using at least five personal pronouns correctly. Writing Conventions: Introduce a pronoun matching game where learners match pronouns to their antecedents in sentences. Conduct a peer review session where learners exchange their written work and check for correct pronoun usage.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Oral Language: Ask learners to share one new thing they learned about storytelling and discuss how they can improve their retelling skills. Reading: Have learners reflect on how using pronouns helped them understand the text better and share their thoughts with the class. Writing: Invite learners to read their descriptive paragraphs aloud and receive feedback from peers on the use of pronouns and adjectives. Writing Conventions: Conduct a quick quiz on pronoun usage and ask learners to self-assess their understanding of the rules.
