Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Engage learners to sing songs and play games to get them ready for lesson. Use questions and answers to review learners understanding in the previous lesson.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Display a sample Ghanaian-language semi-formal letter and guide learners to identify the address, date, salutation, body, closing and signature. Discuss the purpose and audience of the letter. Learners read a Ghanaian-language reading passage aloud in turns with suitable pronunciation, rhythm and tone. They identify how its paragraphs and punctuation support meaning. Using exercise books and pencils, learners plan and write a short semi-formal letter based on a familiar school or community situation. Partners check the structure before selected readings.
