Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a brief introduction about storytelling and its importance in communication. Engage learners in a group discussion where each shares a short story or fact about themselves or their family. Introduce a few vocabulary words related to family and places, ensuring students understand and can pronounce them. Lead a quick game where learners identify common nouns around the classroom and describe them using simple sentences.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Facilitate a storytelling session where learners discuss the major themes of a familiar story, prompting them with questions about the characters and setting. Encourage learners to pair up and talk about their family members, focusing on relationships and roles within the family. Reading: Conduct a reading session focusing on words with blends such as 'st' and 'fr', asking students to identify these sounds in a story. Organize a read-aloud session where learners take turns reading sentences with blend words, ensuring correct pronunciation. Writing: Guide learners through writing short paragraphs about their favorite family member, encouraging the use of descriptive words. Supervise an activity where students write about a place they have visited, using complete sentences and blend words.
