Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Introduce fricative sounds with examples such as 'sip' and 'zip' to highlight differences. Read a short passage aloud that includes a variety of fricatives, asking learners to identify them. Discuss the use of semi-colons in writing by showing a complex list and asking students to spot the punctuation. Begin with a brief talk about the theme of a story in 'The Cockcrow' to stimulate interest and predictions. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Oral Language:
Practice the pronunciation of fricatives by having students repeat words with /s, z, ʃ, ʒ/ sounds in pairs.
