Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Engage learners with a quick listening exercise where they identify plosive sounds in a short audio clip. Introduce a brief text and ask learners to quickly skim through to predict the main ideas. Review the use of semi-colons by showing examples of sentences that require them and those that do not. Discuss the elements of dialogue by reading a short conversational excerpt from 'The Cockcrow'.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Conduct a listening activity where students listen to a passage and note down words containing plosive sounds. Organize a pronunciation drill focusing on plosive sounds, encouraging learners to practice in pairs. Reading: Provide learners with a passage and guide them in skimming to find the main ideas, discussing their findings with the class.
