Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Leaners sing and recite rhymes on how energy can be conserved in the community. If You Save Energy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands Verse 1: If You Use Less and you know it, clap your hands. If You Use Less and you know it, clap your hands. If You Use Less and you know it, then your face will really show it. If You Use Less and you know it, clap your hands.
Verse 2: If You Unplug and you know it, stomp your feet.
Verse 3: If You Reuse and you know it, wave your hands. Final verse: If You Save Energy and you know it, do all three. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Learners compare the efficient-lighting information on the LED bulb with a teacher-provided example of a less efficient bulb. They practise switching the Switchable power strip off when simulated appliances are not in use and explain how this prevents wasted standby energy. Groups read the consumption and charge sections of the Sample ECG electricity bill and predict how the demonstrated actions could reduce use and cost. They prepare a short household energy-conservation message using evidence from all three resources. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Ask learners series of questions to review their understanding of the lesson
