Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Revise with learners to review their understanding in the previous lesson. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment In respectful mixed-ability groups, learners sort the Printed puberty-change cards into physical changes, emotional changes and changes common to everyone. They examine the Bar of soap as a personal-hygiene item and discuss bathing, clean clothing and not sharing personal items. The teacher uses the unopened Menstrual pad to explain safe menstrual hygiene and disposal while also discussing hygiene needs of boys. Learners place anonymous questions in a box and finish by identifying trusted adults and healthy ways to manage emotions; puberty rites are reserved for the following week. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Use peer discussion and effective questioning to find out from learners what they have learnt during the lesson. |
