Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a brief pronunciation exercise focusing on inversion questions. Listen to a short story and identify inversion questions used. Practice forming inversion questions in pairs. Discuss the importance of intonation in expressing different types of questions.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Engage students in a role-play activity where they ask and answer inversion questions to practice pronunciation and intonation. Conduct a listening exercise with audio clips containing inversion questions, and have students repeat them aloud. Reading: Provide students with short, level-appropriate texts to read independently, followed by comprehension questions. Conduct silent reading sessions and encourage students to visualize the story events. Writing: Guide students to brainstorm and outline a simple narrative setting and characters. Facilitate a writing workshop where students write the opening paragraph of their narrative, establishing context. Using Writing Conventions: Introduce coordinating conjunctions through examples and explain their function in joining ideas. Have students write sentences using coordinating conjunctions to connect related ideas. Extensive Reading: Provide a selection of age-appropriate books for students to choose from and read for pleasure. Organize a book club meeting where students share summaries of their chosen books.
