Introduction

A rhyme sounds best when we say it with a steady beat, like a drum. Let us say rhymes with good rhythm.

1. Rhythm in Rhymes

Rhythm: The pattern of strong and soft beats in words or music.

  • Say each line in time with the beat.
  • Stress the strong beats.
  • Pause at the end of each line.

2. Rhyming Words

Rhyming words end with the same sound.

English example: "Hot cross buns, hot cross buns, one a penny, two a penny…" — buns and buns, penny and penny.

Find rhyming endings in rhymes in your own language.
