Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Ask learners to briefly discuss any environmental changes they've noticed in their local community. This prompts them to start thinking about human influence on the environment. Share performance indicators with learners. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Before a supervised school-compound walk, groups read the Printed observation checklist and agree not to touch sharp, wet or unknown waste. They compare the clean Used sachet-water bag with litter observed from a safe distance and identify how careless disposal blocks drains or harms soil and animals. They study the Printed photograph of a locally degraded site and connect visible evidence with tree felling, erosion, pollution or illegal mining. Groups record causes and consequences and propose one practical prevention action. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Use peer discussion and effective questioning to find out from learners what they have learnt during the lesson |

Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Display a few images related to environmental destruction (like a polluted beach, smokestacks, etc.) and ask learners to quickly jot down the human activities they think are represented. Share performance indicators with learners. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Groups examine the Printed photographs of Ghanaian galamsey and bush burning and list visible causes and effects on water, soil, plants, animals and livelihoods. They use the Clean used sachet-water bag as local evidence when discussing plastic litter and blocked drains. On the Chart paper with markers, learners create a cause-and-effect map and rank the activities by seriousness and preventability. They use the mapped evidence in a short debate and finish with realistic community responses. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Take feedback from learners and summarize the lesson. |
