Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Recap previous knowledge about the main. Quick brainstorm: What do you already know about the main? Introduction to today's objectives regarding the main. Mental drill or quick quiz related to the main.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Guide students to skim the passage for main ideas. Help students identify supporting ideas in the text. Lead a discussion on the connection between main and supporting ideas. Encourage students to answer recall and inferential questions about the passage.
