Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning

Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Learners study the printed photographs of familiar Ghanaian settings, select suitable expressions from the printed dialogue cards, and use the locally made role-play props to practise the conversation. and word and sentence cards, revise verbs (action words) by having learners identify the present form of verbs and use them in sentences, e.g. come, go, sit, etc. (action). Have several learners obey commands such as ‘stand up’, ‘close the door’. The teacher gives commands which the class/individuals promptly obey. Have Learners role-play giving and responding to commands.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Give learners task to complete while you go round the class to support those who might need extra help. Have learners to read and spell some of the keywords in the lesson

Model reading aloud with the focus on pace and expression. and word and sentence cards, have learners, in group/pairs, read short texts aloud with the appropriate pace, accuracy and expression.

Descriptive Writing

Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Learners study the printed emotion photographs of Ghanaian children and name the feeling shown in each situation. They use the locally made puppet to act out one situation and explain why the character may feel that way. Learners write simple feeling sentences in exercise books with pencils and share them with a partner.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Give learners task to complete while you go round the class to support those who might need extra help. Have learners to read and spell some of the keywords in the lesson

Spelling

Learners inspect and rearrange the printed sentence cards, discuss the target language feature on the chalkboard with chalk, and practise their own examples in exercise books with pencils. & GRAMMAR USAGE (Spelling) Have learners play the pick and spell game to spell phonetically irregular words. e. g. the, face Have learners use these words in oral and written sentences.

Engage learners to recite a few rhymes with actions Have a variety of age appropriate books for learners to make a choice from.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Learners read the Ghanaian storybook and the printed passage about a Ghanaian community, then record the target ideas or reading responses in exercise books with pencils. Using word and sentence cards, use the Author’s chair to introduce the reading/ library time. Introduce narratives, pop-up and flip-the-page texts to learners. Introduce e-books to learners, if available.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Call learners in turns to tell the whole class what they read. Let Learners draw parts of the story they read
